“Poetry isn’t just an art—it’s a way of surviving, witnessing, and celebrating.”

Ive always believed in the art of literature.

For the very first time (in my generation) there is a space in East Los for writers, storytellers, and performers. A space that is accesible, inclusive and most importantly resonantes with the culture. Somewhere between stage set-ups, open mic sign-ups, and post-poem joy, I realized this space isnt just a stage to perform. Its a archive. A collective. A story that deserves to be written down.

And so here we are...

Welcome to the East Los Soul Blog

Here is a home for:

  • Reflections after our open mic nights

  • Spotlights on local poets, performers, and community legends

  • Behind-the-scenes moments: the real, the funny, the chaotic

  • Creative musings on art, place, love, struggle, and spirit

  • And above all, truth: the kind that makes you stop scrolling and start feeling

So, Why write this now?

Because I want this blog to feel like quiet moments at the dinner table with your tia. The kind where she checks in and says the things you claim to already know, but need to hear. Where we remember that poetry isnt just words, but art. A way of surviving. A way to remember. A way to connect.

I will be writing regulary here, not as a brand, or news article, but as a poet. A homie from the community (porque soy).

If you ever read at our events, listen in, or create art ... this is for you. From East Los Soul, with East Los Love.
